چکیده

Noninvasive molecular targeting in living subjects is highly demanded for efficient delivery of drugs, genes, or radionuclides in the course of diagnosing or treating diseases. Nuclear medicine has been used for decades to evaluate in vivo biochemistry using organor cell-specific radiopharmaceuticals such as iodine for thyroid follicular cells. Recent progress in molecular biology provides tools for unveiling secrets of intraor inter-cellular events including gene transfer. Molecular nuclear imaging uses those tools to trace molecular events in living animals or in the human. Molecular biology also has produced advanced cell therapy technologies. Stem cells are expected to treat various otherwise incurable diseases. For a proper selection of time and number of cells, trafficking of administered cells is needed. Molecular nuclear imaging technology using luminescent or radioactive photons is most suitable for the purpose. Fig. 1 illustrates the concept of targeting and trafficking. 2. METHODS AND RESULTS IN NUCLEAR IMAGING EXPERIMENTS OF TARGETING AND TRAFFICKING

A 99mTc-tricine-HYNIC-labeled Peptide Targeting the Melanocortin-1 Receptor for Melanoma Imaging

Melanocortin-1 (MC1) receptor is an attractive melanoma-specific target for the development of α-MSH peptide based imaging and therapeutic agents. In this work a new lactam bridge α-MSH analogue was synthesized and radiolabeled with 99mTc via HYNIC chelator and tricine as co-ligand. Also, stability in human serum, receptor bound internalization and tissue biodistribution in tumor bearing nude m...

The new direction of nuclear medicine

The role of the nuclear medicine has changed, from the early days when it was the only alternative to x-rays, to the present, when nuclear images are interpreted in light of specific metabolic processes, not anatomy. The development of specific receptor targeting radiopharmaceuticals, markers of viability using PETor SPECT, analogues of neurotransmitters etc., have placed the nuclear medi...

Radiolabeling of Ceftriaxone with 99mTc as a Targeting Radiopharmaceutical for Staphylococcus Aureus Detection in Mouse Model

Introduction Bacterial infection is one of the major causes of morbidity and mortality especially in developing countries. Nuclear medicine has an important role in helping the diagnosis of deep-seated infections by developing more specific radiopharmaceuticals. The aim of this study was to evaluate 99mTc-labeling ceftriaxone as a new radiopharmaceutical for Staphylococcus aureus infection imag...

Preparation and preliminary studies of [64Cu]-antiMUC-1 for breast cancer targeting

PR81 is a monoclonal antibody that binds with high affinity to MUC1 that over expressed on breast tumors. PR81 is considered a suitable targeting molecule that was radiolabeled using Cu-64 for positron imaging studies. The monoclonal antibody was conjugated with DOTA moiety and after purification was evaluated for radiochemical purity, immunoreactivity, cell toxicity and structure integrity as ...
